INDONESIA strongly promoted to Japanese Tourist market at JAPAN TOURISM EXPO 2017

Clearly distinguished by its iconic Phinisi traditional wooden schooner and the Wonderful Indonesia logo,Indonesia will be strongly promoted at the prestigious Japan Tourism Expo (JTE) 2017, - Japan , that will take place from 21st to 24th September at the Tokyo International Exhibition Center (Tokyo Big Sight), Japan.

This is the largest tourism show in Japan. This year JTE will be attended by 1,100 buyers and sellers from 150 countries around the world in 1,100 booths. Some 175,000 visitors are expected to attend the show.

The Indonesian pavilion will consist of 20 booths covering an area of 234 sqm. Located at East Hall 1, L 39 at exhibition booths no. L36 and L37, Indonesia is represented by the country's three major destinations, being Greater Jakarta, Greater Bali and Greater Batam and Bintan. Also present will be 35 tourism industry companies of Indonesia, comprising tour operators, hotels, cruising, theme parks, airlines as well as Regional governments and Destination Management Organizations.

At the pavilion, Indonesia will hold B to B meetings, while the public will also be able to meet hotels and agents directly. There will also be an information center, and as usual, the Indonesian booth will serve special Indonesian aromatic Coffee to visitors, live traditional dances, and a Virtual Reality booth, with a Gift Redemption corner.

While at the JATA Business meeting, pre-appointments (PSA) have been arranged with matched meetings, said Vincent Jemadu, Assistant to the Deputy for the Development of the Asia-Pacific Market at the Ministry of Tourism

The majestic phinisi schooner, - the icon of the pavilion -, is a completely hand-crafted vessel , built through traditional skills and local wisdom, that has sailed the Indonesian seas for centuries, and is until today still very much in use. This is an original Bugis-Makassar creation, that is constructed at Bulukumba district around the town of Bira, in South Sulawesi.

Today, many marine tourism companies order these phinisi boats to serve as comfortable, modern and romantic live-aboard vessels to call on Indonesia's many remote islands and pristine beaches and seas.

Japan is one of Indonesia's major tourist markets said Tourism Minister, Arief Yahya separately. According to statistics, in 2015 some 528,000 Japanese citizens visited Indonesia, while in 2016, the number dropped slightly to 513,000, This year 2017, we aim to attract 762,000 Japanese tourists to Indonesia to complete the 15 million target that Indonesia has set itself to receive this year, said Minister Yahya.

Indonesia is a very large archipelago with thousands of attractions stretching from the wellknown dive and sailing site called Sabang in the western-most part of Indonesia to Merauke in Indonesian Papua in the far eastern part of the islands.
